Reporting Responsibilities:

  1. Reports to: Manager IT
  2. Liaises with: Judicial Officers, Court Support Staff, ITC Personnel, Stakeholders
  3. Subordinates: Technical Support Engineers, IT Support Officers, helpdesk officers

 

The Position:

The position reports to the IT Manager through the senior software developer/ Programmer to assist the IT section with the IT Infrastructure. The primary role of this position is to manage and optimise the Electronic Filing System and the case management system ensuring its seamless operation to support the overall court operations. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining, securing, and enhancing the efficiency of our digital infrastructure.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The position will achieve its purpose through the following key responsibility areas:

 

  1. Configure and maintain the front-end and the back-end of the eFiling System and the case management system ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  2. Carry out development works to enhance system capability and functionality as and when needed. Should be proficient in commonly used development models such as JavaScript/Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, C# and C++ etc
  3. Configure and test the enhancements made in accordance with IT policies and best practices
  4. Regularly update and patch the system to address security vulnerabilities and improve functionality.
  5. Implement data backup mechanisms and manage archival processes in compliance with IT policies and best practices
  6. Implement and maintain robust security measures to safeguard the system and documents.
  7. Manage user access permissions and conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity.
  8. Provide technical support to end-users and address system-related issues promptly.
  9. Collaborate with IT support teams to resolve complex problems and implement system improvements.
  10. Work closely with court staff and IT professionals to understand workflow requirements and integrate system enhancements accordingly.
  11. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  12. Train end-users and IT staff on system usage and best practices.
  13. Collaborate with vendors regularly for system upgrades and issue resolution.
  14. Adhere to any extra task assigned by Manager IT

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

The Person:

 The successful candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent along with proven experience as an IT Systems Administrator or in a similar role. The following Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities are required to successfully undertake this role:

Knowledge and Experience:

  1. Exceptional knowledge in server and software application development,
  2. Good working knowledge in Database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle and MSSQL)
  3. Strong knowledge and experience in server setup, administration and management, including configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability is sustained.
  4. Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud platforms, demonstrating the ability to deploy and manage systems in virtualized and cloud environments.
  5. Excellent Server environment and applications troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  6. Solid understanding of security best practices, including the implementation of security measures to safeguard the organization’s IT infrastructure against potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  7. At least 3 years experience working in the development and infrastructure administration and management role.

 

Skills and Abilities

  1. Ability to design, implement and maintain applications in alignment with the current system.
  2. Good analytical skills to be able to conduct analysis on current applications and requirements with recommended/development solutions to meet the organizational needs.
  3. Ability to design, implement and maintain databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle and MSSQL)
  4. Ability to administer and manage server environment with minimal supervision.
  5. Proven ability to setup and configure virtual servers and cloud services/ applications.
  6. Proven ability to diagnose and resolve system issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  7. Exceptional communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  8. Good working ethics with proper coordination capability to foster a collaborative work environment.

 

Personal Character and Eligibility

Applicants for employment in the Judicial Department must be Fijian Citizens, under Age 60, in sound health, with a clear police record. The selected applicant will be required to provide a medical report and police clearance prior to taking up duty.
