Reporting Responsibilities;
- Reports to: Assistant Statistician
- Liaises with: Police Prosecution Officers, Court Support Staff, Fine Enforcement Unit Staff
- Subordinates: None
The Position
The position reports to the Assistant Statistician and to provide administration support services for the Unit by ensuring proper verification of committal warrants on a daily basis and to ensure that all receipted warrants are prepared in a timely manner to various courts.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure proper checking and extracting information on fine defaulters from Land Transport Authority’s database before warrants are prepared and given to Police Warrant Officer and Sheriff Officers for execution;
- Arrange and prepare paid warrant receipts to various court stations;
- Assist in data entry for incoming warrants;
- Execution of committal warrants with Police Officers on need basis;
- Handling customer enquiries;
- Effective communication with external parties from LTA, court registries and police officers;
- Provide administrative support services in accordance with Departmental policies, practices and procedure;
- Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The Person
A pass in Fiji Seventh Form Examination or equivalent. A pass in Service Examination H is an added advantage together with the following Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities are required to successfully undertake this role:
Knowledge and Experience
- Practical and working knowledge of the administration functions;
- Knowledge of basic computer programs and court procedures;
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the Fijian Constitution (2013), PSC Acts, General Orders and Department Policies and Directives;
- Relevant work experience is an added advantage.
Skills and Abilities
The applicant should have demonstrated the following skills and abilities:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to follow instructions and meet set deadlines;
- Proven ability to effectively organize workload and work as part of a team;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information;
- Ability to utilize computer programs to support the operations of the unit.
Personal Character and Eligibility
Applicants for employment in the Judicial Department must be Fijian Citizens, under Age 55, in sound health, with a clear police record. The selected applicant will be required to provide a medical report and police clearance prior to taking up duty.
