Reporting Responsibilities;
a) Reports to: Assistant Accounts Officer (Salaries)
b) Liaises with: Accounts Section Staff, Court Support Staff
c) Subordinates: Nil
The Position
The position reports to Manger Finance through Assistant Accounts Officer ((Salaries), Accounts Officer and Senior Accounts Officer and is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payment of salaries/ wages to all employees of Judicial Department.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure that proper verifications are carried out before paying out of unestablished wages, that is to check the payroll against the data entry done;
2. Prepare FNPF contribution (employee/employer share) which is paid out before or on the last day of the month;
3. Ensure timely submission of salary input forms to Ministry of Finance in respect of changes which affect the established employee’s salary;
4. Ensure recoveries are made in case of overpayment of salaries/ wages or reversal of salary if the need arise;
5.Ensure that all salaries correspondence are filed in the respective EDP files and also maintain the confidential information regarding salaries of each employee from unauthorized personnel.
6.Any other duties assigned by Assistant Accounts Officer [salaries]
SELECTION CRITERIA
The Person
A pass in Fiji Seventh Form Examination with Accounting as one of the subjects or equivalent. Relevant work experience and a pass in Service Examination “H” is an added advantage together with the following Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities are required to successfully undertake this role:
Knowledge and Experience
1. Practical and working knowledge of the functions of Accounts Section;
2. Understanding of the 2013 Fijian Constitution; Financial Instructions, Policies and Procedures;
3. At least 1 year work experience in the Accounting field.
Skills and Abilities
The applicant should have demonstrated the following skills and abilities:
1. Good communications and interpersonal skills;
2. Ability to follow instructions and meet set deadlines;
3. Demonstrated ability to organize workload and work as part of a team;
4. Capacity to use computer programs to support the operations in the Accounts Section;
5. Competent in figure work.
Personal Character and Eligibility
Applicants for employment in the Judicial Department must be Fijian Citizens, under Age 60, in sound health, with a clear police record. The selected applicant will be required to provide a medical report and police clearance prior to taking up duty.
