Reporting Responsibilities;

  1. Reports to:           IT Manager/ Officers-in-Charge of the Court
  2. Liaises with: Judicial Officers, The Senior Court Officer, Court Officer, Court Support Staff, ITC Personnel, Stakeholders
  3. Subordinates:       Nil


The Position

This position reports to the IT Manager/ Officer’s -in-Charge of Court registries  through the appointed Senior Court Officer for providing desk side technical support, court documentations and support assistance for eFiling System to relevant stakeholders OR Court interpretation duties as and when needed.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Address customer concerns promptly and professionally, fostering positive relationships with legal professionals including counter services for the public and Legal clients.
  2. Guide and assist internal and external stakeholders in using the new Electronic filing systems and collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate seamless digital filing processes, ensuring the security and integrity of court records.
  3. Assist court users, attorneys, and the public with inquiries regarding digital filing processes, offering guidance on proper procedures.
  4. Conduct training sessions for court personnel, legal professionals, and the public on digital filing systems, developing training materials.
  5. Organize and maintain case records in a digital format, tracking filings, updates, and ensuring accuracy.
  6. Attending court hearings for interpretation and clerical duties;
  7. Ensuring proper conduct of Court sessions and assisting Judicial Officers in all aspects as required;
  8. Collaborate with relevant IT counterpart to enhance case management processes, troubleshoot issues, and propose system improvements as per feedback from stakeholders
  9. Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and court policies
  10. To provide information and assistance whenever required;
  11. Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.



 The Person

Qualification of a pass in Fiji Seven Form Examination with computer studies or equivalent and must have a minimum of 50 marks in English OR a pass in Form Six examination with at least 1 -2 years work experience in IT. A pass in Departmental Examination X1 and Service Examination H1 or H would be an added advantage. The following Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities are also required to successfully undertake this role:


Knowledge and Experience

  1. Sound knowledge in the use and administration of case management softwares, ensuring accurate and efficient tracking of cases, filings, and court schedules.
  2. Sound knowledge and understanding of legislative requirements of the Constitution, Acts, Department Policies, Court Rules, Procedures and Processes;
  3. Sound knowledge and understanding of the legal system, court procedures, and protocols to effectively integrate IT solutions within the judicial framework.
  4. Familiarity with courtroom technologies such as video conferencing, electronic evidence presentation systems, and digital recording systems to facilitate seamless proceedings.
  5. At least 1-2 years work experience in interpretation duties or in similar work environment.



Skills and Abilities

  1. Good communication and interpretation skills with the ability to interpret and translate effectively in an open Court with either English/ I-Taukei / Hindi language and vice versa;
  2. Good public relations and customer service skills with the ability to provide training sessions for court personnel and other stakeholders on IT systems and applications, as well as offering ongoing support to address any user concerns or queries.
  3. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information in relation to Court proceedings and records;
  4. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively within a team environment;
  5. Capacity to utilize computer programs to support the operations of the Court registry and have the Flexibility in adapting to evolving technologies and procedural changes within the legal system, staying abreast of IT trends to continuously enhance court IT infrastructure and services.


Personal Character and Eligibility

Applicants for employment in the Judicial Department must be Fijian Citizens, under Age 60, in sound health, with a clear police record. The selected applicant will be required to provide a medical report and police clearance prior to taking up duty.
